On January 17, Karekin II Catholicos of All Armenians received Shombi Sharp, UN Resident Coordinator in Armenia and the representatives of other UN specialized agencies and program.
The frescoes of the walls of the Mother See of Holy Etchmiadzin continue to undergo research and restoration. The specialists believer that over the course of renovation more frescoes will be discovered.
13th exhibition of “Creating Hands” was opened in Gevorkian Seminary. The paintings of young painters Shushan Gevorgyan and Diana Harutyunyan can be viewed by January 27.
By the initiative of Dialog NGO, a discussion on “Totalitarian Art and Its Manifestations in Religious Organizations” was held in Ararat Patriarchal Diocese.
International news: On January 16, on the occasion of New Year and Christmas, the newly-elected Mayor of Jerusalem has visited the Armenian Prelacy in Jerusalem. 
The postal service of the United States prohibited post-cards with religious content. The lawyers prepare a law-suit against the USPS.
The bodies of 34 Ethiopian Christians executed in Libya by Islamic State (IS) in 2015 have been exhumed from a mass grave to be transferred to Ethiopia.

On January 5,  the Candlelight Divine Liturgy was offered by the presidency of Karekin II Catholicos of All Armenians in Etchmiadzin St. Gayane Monastery. 
The Candlelight Divine Liturgy was followed by the first Home blessing ceremony of the year, which was held at the Residence of Catholicos.  
The Candlelight Divine Liturgy in St. Grigor Lusavorich Cathedral of Yerevan was offered by Bishop Arshak Khachatryan. 
The Divine Liturgy in St. Sarkis Church of Ararat Patriarchal Diocese was offered by Father Shahe Hayrapetyan. The Candlelight Liturgy was followed by a Home blessing ceremony.

On January 30, by the invitation of the Primate of the Armenian Diocese of Australia and New Zealand and Diocese Council, Karekin II Catholicos of All Armenians paid a Pontifical visit to Australia.
On the 150th anniversary of Komitas Vardabet, the Liturgy (Patarag) of Vardabet will be broadcast performed by the Latvian Radio Choir.   On this occasion, the Chief Conductor of the Choir Sigvards Kļava paid a three day visit to Armenia.
To mark the 27th anniversary of the Armenian Army, the APD had initiated the program “Warm Socks for the Armenian Soldiers”. All communities of Ararat Marz gathered nearly 10.000 pairs of socks. 
The monograph of Vahe Torosyan, Candidate of Historical Sciences and scientific secretary of Matenadaran, titled "Armenian Catholicos’ Reign from mid XI century to the beginning of the XII century" was published.
Diocesan News: Last week, the representative of the Armenian Diocese in Montreal, Canada, attended an inter-church ecumenical ceremony. The Choir “Komitas” from St. Grigor Lusavorich Cathedral performed at the event. 
The Armenian Diocese of Georgia also took part in the ecumenical prayer in Holy Mother of God Transfiguration Catholic Church of Tbilisi. The delegation of Christian Women’s Ecumenical Conference of Armenia was also present at the event.


2019 declared Year of Family

On January 6, on the Feast of Holy Nativity and Theophany, Karekin II Catholicos of All Armenians delivered his patriarchal message to the Christian believers and declared 2019 as the Year of Family.

Armenian Apostolic Church is one of the largest contributors of Hayastan All-Armenian Fund. 
On November 22, Fund for Armenia Relief of the Eastern Diocese of the Armenian Church in the USA celebrated its 20th anniversary,
The school of Armash village was renamed after Archbishop Maghakia Ormanyan. 
The proceeds from individual exhibition of Ono Hakobyan will be directed to the rehabilitative treatment of disabled military officers. 
On December 2, the Armenian Apostolic Church will celebrate the memory of founding Apostles Thaddeus and Bartholomew.


Ecclesiastical life 29.06.2018

By the initiative of UNESCO, a training course on the maintenance and reconstruction of manuscripts and archival documents has been launched in Mashtots Matenadaran, with the attendance of eight Syrian experts.
The training is implemented within the framework of the "Syrian Cultural Heritage Immediate Protection” program.
In September, New York's Metropolitan Museum will host sacred souvenirs, historical and cultural values of IV to XVIII centuries - fabrics, manuscripts, church supplies and relics preserved in the Mother See of Holy Etchmiadzin.
On June 29, at Gevorkyan Theological Seminary, the graduation ceremony was held. This year, the seminary has 27 graduates. 
The presentation of Father Tovma Andreasyan's book “Mykop Diary” was held at the Writers' Union. 
International News: The Smithsonian Folklife Festival has been launched in Washington's Falklough Festival, which is dedicated to Armenia and Catalonia this year. On June 28, the Duke of Cambridge, Prince William of England, visited the Holy Land. In the Lord's Resurrection Cathedral, the Prince was met by the spiritual leaders of the three churches.
On June 28, Pope Francis ordained 14 Cardinals at St. Peter's Cathedral in Rome. The Dutch Senate has approved the draft bill banning niqab in public places. now in the country it is forbidden to wear burqa, hijab or other clothes that cover the face.
The law breakers will be fined 400 Euros.
On June 27, Noyan Tapan Media Center organized a press conference where the members of "New Armenia, New Patriarch" initiative - Karen Petrosyan, Father Koryun Arakelyan, Manvel Manukyan and Artak Alaverdyan participated in the event. The press conference failed, for which the speakers blamed the journalists.


Ecclesiastical life 28.05.2018

On May 28, by the presidency of the Catholicos of All Armenians, in the open altar Trdat, a thanksgiving wish was delivered for the May heroic battles and the 100th anniversary of the First Republic of Armenia. The Armenian spiritual leader prayed with bent knees and open headed beseeching the Lord’s beneficence for Armenia.
On May 28, the event called “Century of Victory” was held in Sardarapat Memorial. The Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan, the President Armen Sargsyan, the President of Artsakh Bako Sahakyan and Catholicos of All Armenians Karekin II placed wraths on  Sardarapat Memorial followed by the prayer of the Patriarch. After the military march and festive concert, His Holiness finalized the ceremony with his blessing of believers. 
This year, on January 28 the Armenian Apostolic Church celebrated the Feast of Sts. Hripsime and Gayane. The relic of St. Hripsime was taken to St. Hripsime Monastery from the Mother See. This year, the Church bearing the name of St. Hripsime marks 1400th anniversary of its construction.
There are many foreign citizens and Diaspora Armenians in our country these days arriving to Armenia to participate in the  festivities of the 100th anniversary of the First Republic of Armenia and heroic battles of Sardaratat. The Patriarch of All Armenians Karekin II received the group headed be Father Hovel Ohanyan,  the pastor of Oakland, US. Most of the pilgrims were in Armenia for the first time. Afterwards the Supreme Patriarch received  the Argentinian Armenian pilgrims accompanied by Rev. Fr. Maghakia Amiryan. 
On May 25, in the Mother See of Holy  Etchmiadzin, the Minister of Culture Lilit Makunts was received by Catholicos of All Armenians. The Armenian Patriarch congratulated the Minister on her appointment wishing her effective service for the benefit of the homeland and the development of the cultural life of Armenian nation.
The Publishing House of the Mother See published “Soldier Priests” and “Powerful Saints” to mark the 100th anniversary of May heroic battles and the First Republic. The author of both theses is scientific researcher of Matenadaran Lusine Tumanyan.
On May 22, at the Eternal Valley Memorial Park in Newhall, a monument dedicated to the 100th Anniversary of the First Republic of Armenia was opened. 
In 1974, the reader received the first book ever on the heroic battle of Sardarapat written by Robert Karayan “The Sun is Beautiful on the Sunset”. The novel was abridged, yet after almost ten years the author managed to publish it fully entitled “Salvation”. The jubilee of May heroic battles are the most convenient occasions to revalue the bravery of the author.


Ecclesiastical life 25.06.2018

On June 23, the Catholicos of All Armenians received the pilgrims from the Western Diocese of Armenia in the USA. They were from Santa Clarita city of California. 
The final concert of Malatia Armenia Church District Youth Center hosted Catholicos of All Armenians Karekin II.  The theatrical and all other music groups of the Center had a performance. 
On June 23, our Church celebrated the Commemoration of Sts. Tiridates, King of Armenia, Queen Ashkhen and Princess Khosrovidoukht.  The first celebrant of the Divine Liturgy in St. Trdat and St. Ashkhen chapels of St. Grigor Lusavorich Cathedral, where up till now no Divine Liturgy was offered, was Father Arnak Harutyunyan.
On June 24, the fifth Sunday following the Pentecost is declared as Feast of the Discovery of St. Mary’s Box. The relic of the Saviour's cross was brought to the Monastery for the second time this day.
On June 24, Ruben Sevak Museum of the Mother See of Holy Etchmiadzin hosted a lecture on “Romanticism and Ayvazovski”. The presented was art critic Gayane Hovhannisyan. 
By the blessing of  the Primate of Gugark Diocese Archbishop Sebou Chouldjian, in   St. Astvatsatsin Church of Odzun,  the second regional festival “Spiritual Songs” was launched. On the first day, the Choirs “Nare” from Yerevan and Vanadzor’s Komitas Art School performed.  


Ecclesiastical life 22.06.2018

On June 21, the Feast of Sts. Sahak Partev and  Mesrop Mashtots was held in Oshakan. 
On June 22, the Supreme Patriarch received pilgrims in Karekin I" Educational Center. They were the representatives of St.  Gevorg Church community in Masis city and the children of FAR “Child Support Center”. 
By the presidency of Catholicos of All Armenians, on June 21 Father Koryun Arakelyan was defrocked and released from  his duties as the priest of St. Gayane Monastery, The Grand Sacristan will ensure Father Koryun’s residence in the Cathedral. The Disciplinary Commission of the Mother See of Holy Etchmiadzin has been assigned to examine the issues related to Father Koryun Arakelyan. By the presidency of His Holiness, Rev. Fr. Matteos Poghosyan was appointed as the priest of St. Gayane  Monastery.
Nearly 102 children, aged 2-18, live and study at "Tchunyan Home" educational orphanage in Gyumri, functioning under the auspices of the Mother See. Recently, the residents of this house were hosted by Bishop Vartan Navasardyan. 
News From the Armenian Dioceses - On June 17, the relic of  the patriarch Hakob Mtsbna was taken to Canada. 
On June 21, the Holy Translators' Day was celebrated at the Armenian Diocese of Georgia.  
From the end of May to mid-July starts the period of final events to be held at the Armenian Church District Youth Centers of the Mother See of Holy Etchmiadzin. Bishop Vardan Navasardyan, Director of the Christian Education Center of the Mother See of Holy Etchmiadzin was hosted at the final concert of Armenian Church District Youth Center in Gyumri.
International news: An international conference of researchers studying the spiritual culture was held in Stockholm, Sweden. The three spiritual leaders of Jerusalem delivered a letter to the Prime Minister of Israel on the debated draft law. The draft law refers to the potential confiscation of church property.
Angelo Amato, the Prefect of the Congregation for the Causes of Saints in Vatican celebrated his 80th anniversary this month. This jubilee reduced the number of conclave participants in the event of selecting new Pope reaching 114. 


Ecclesiastical life 25.05.2018

On May 25, the 27th joint meeting of the Board of Trustees of Hayastan All Armenian Fund and its local bodies was held, which was conducted by the President of Armenia, the President of the Board of Trustees Armen Sargsyan. The meeting was attended by Catholicos of All Armenians Karekin II, the Prime Minister of Armenia Nikol Pashinyan, the President of Artsakh Republic Bako Sahakyan and other officials.
On May 24, the Catholicos of All Armenians and the Prime Minister of the Republic of Armenia had a meeting. Nikol Pashinyan expressed his gratitude to Karekin II mentioning that the message of His Holiness on peace and tolerance helped to ensure peaceful solution of the recent internal political tensions.
On May 24, a meeting of priests was held in the Mother See of Holy Etchmiadzin. Approximately 200 priests arrived in Etchmiadzin with their Diocesan Primates. Before the commencement of the meeting, the priests headed by the Armenian Patriarch attended a Divine Liturgy in the Mother Cathedral followed by a Repose of Souls for Gevork V Surenyats Catholicos at his grave.
The Annual Assembly of the Armenian Diocese of Canada was held on May 18-20, 2018 with the delegates from parishes across Canada. Parish delegates also celebrated 50th anniversary of the host - St. Vartan Armenian Church parish. On this historic occasion, Queen Elizabeth II proclaimed May the 20th of 2018 the Armenian Heritage Day. Justin Trudeau, the Prime Minister of Canada, on behalf of the Government of Canada, extended greetings to the Assembly participants and expressed wishes of success.
Recently, another apartment was purchased in Vanadzor within the scope of the program “Extend Your Hand to Your Brother” with the support of “Homeland Union” Charity Foundation, USA. The family of Ara Shekoyan became the owner of the 21st flat.
On May 25 the last bell tolled in the schools of Armenia and Artsakh. For the graduates of Arabkir community schools N 82 and 128, the day was commenced from the backyard of the newly-constructed Church. They came to receive blessing, pray for the achievement of their goals and dreams before their last lesson.
The academic year is finalized across all Armenian Church Youth Center. All the Centers hold open classes, concerts and exhibitions. The students of the Folk Ensemble “Haykazunk” of Nork Armenian Church Youth Center are excited about their final end-year concert.
The Ministry of Culture signed a memorandum on the joint activities of the state and private structures to strengthen, rehabilitate and improve the territory of the Church of Srbots Arakelots at Karenis village of Kotayk marz. The document was signed by the Deputy Minister of Culture of the Republic of Armenia Arev Samuelyan and Armen Baghdasaryan, Head of Karenis Community of Kotayk Marz.


Ecclesiastical life 21.05.2018

The coming of the Holy Spirit - Pentecost is the commemoration  of the descending of the Spirit on the disciples, which took place on the 50th day of the Resurrection. This year, the Armenian Apostolic Church celebrated the feast on May 20.
Within the scope of Museum Night, apart from permanent screening and materials on May heroic battle taking place in Ruben Sevak Museum of the Mother See, the painting of Mikayel Harutyunyan “End of Golgotha, Victory” was displayed, which is based on the topic of the role that Catholicos Gevork V Surenyants played in Sardarapat heroic battle. 
Within the scope of Museum Night, the Choir “Etchmiadzin” of Gevorkian Seminary performed in the National Gallery. 
On May 19 the Armenian Church District Youth Center of Malatya initiated an event dedicated to the 100th anniversary of the proclamation of the First Republic of Armenia and May heroic battles. 
The Publishing House of the Mother See published “The Annals” of Very Rev. Fr. Vahan Bastamyants by Gevorg Ter-Vardanyan. The memoirs of Vardapet tell about Etchmiadzin of  1872-1880. 


Ecclesiastical life 18.06.2018

On June 15, Karekin II Catholicos of All Armenians visited Izmirlian Medical Center functioning in the auspices of the Mother See. On that day, 15 participants of the Artsakh freedom fight and the four-day April war were examined by the traumatologists of the Indian branch office of the leading German "Ottobok" clinic, with a perspective of prosthetics in the future. 
On June 17, the pilgrim families arriving from the Western and Eastern Armenian Dioceses of the United States visited the Pontiff. His Holiness underlined the importance of the fact that parents bring their children to their Homeland to establish direct connection with their Armenian identity. 
On June 17, after the Divine Liturgy, the members of the initiative demanding the resignation of Catholicos had a meeting with the Primate of Shirak Diocese Bishop Mikayel Ajapahyan expecting from him to pass their demands to Karekin II. During the heated meeting lasting 1 hours 12 minutes, Father Mikayel answered the questions of the initiative members and addressed their rebukes qualifying most of them as ungrounded. The Bishop once again called the clergyman and other members of the initiative for soberness and qualified their activities as sectarian.
Recently, the Museum of the Mother See of Holy Echmiadzin has been replenished with three cloaks having historical and cultural significance. They were donated to the Mother See of Holy Etchmiadzin by Thaddeus and Bartholomew Church in Marseilles. The cloaks are relics saved from the monasteries found near the town of Caesarea in Cappadocia, which the refugees took with them.
The students of Armenian Youth District Center of Etchmiadzin finalized the academic year with a concert program at Makar Yekmalyan Music School. The students of the Armenian Youth District Center presented a multi-genre program with the students of music school.
