Konrad Lorenz


His memories of Armenia were contradictory. He lived a bitter life of a prisoner of war in our country.  But he always remembered that he started writing two of his best works on the shores of Sevan. The prisoner of war was not allowed to give paper or ink, he wrote on empty bags of cement supplied for construction with potassium permanganate. Alfred Nobel

Rudolf Diesel


In the evening of 29 September 1913, on the steamer in Antwerp on his way to a London, one of the German men after the dinner retired to his cabin at about 10 p.m., leaving word to be called the next morning at 6:15 a.m. In the morning his cabin was tidy, with his watch left where it could be seen from the bed, but the passenger was missing. The missing person was world known engineer Rudolf Diesel.

Those sitting at the table with him ask an old man, who lived there as a stranger, to make a toast to the Catholicos. The old man makes the toast in the style of sharakan (Armenian chant). Everyone is startled. The Catholicos Gyut gets closer to him and bows low to kiss his Teacher he was seeking for so many years. That old man was Movses Khorenatsi, the greatest of written Armenian culture’s Golden age.
