An unprecedented situation exists in Armenia. The Constitutional order, international legal norms, freedom of religion and thought, speech and belief are being violated. They are being violated from one center, the Government of the Republic of Armenia, and they are being violated by the persecution launched against one institution, the Armenian Church.
The tools of punishment are diverse: hate speech, fabricated criminal proceedings, internal division, state-sanctioned violence.
The goal of punishment is to silence the voice of the Armenian Church, that is, the Armenian people. The Armenian Church is the only institution of the Armenian people, which, regardless of political changes, has been independent of all religious centers, has acted independently in all state associations, has independently preserved national thinking and values. It has been so historically. It is so now.
What will become clear tomorrow, when it becomes possible to speak in legal instances. When democracy truly works and the right of the Armenian people, the Armenian Church, to self-defense is respected.
