Prayer in the Painting


Rev. Fr. Nerseh Khalatian can no longer think his life without painting. “Painting is something like a prayer to me, - says the Father, - a kind of a unique way of self-concentration and connecting to the Exalted, which makes you to contemplate and create”. Father Nerseh was born in Tiflis. After the graduation of Gevorgian Theological Seminary, he was appointed as the Director of the Museums of Mother See, later – as the Patriarchal Primate of Central and Northern Europe. However, his most crucial experience was his service in an ancient Monastery of Haghartsin following that of in the Europe. It was here that his very first prayer was born in a painting.

History of Armenian Church: 10 years at School, part 2


By signing of the Agreement concluded between the Armenian Patriarch Garegin II and the Prime Minister Andranik Margaryan in 2002, in public schools the subject "History of Armenian Church" started to be taught. 10 years have passed since then.
Second part of the program addresses the methodology of teaching the subject, the rights of children from families attending other religious denominations. Does the subject taught violate the right of the student?

History of Armenian Church: 10 years at School, part 1


By signing of the Agreement concluded between the Armenian Patriarch Garegin II and the Prime Minister Andranik Margaryan in 2002, in public schools the subject "History of Armenian Church" started to be taught. 10 years have passed since then.
However, the entrance of the subject didn't run as smoothly: there was a lack of respective specialists, curricula and text-books.
What difficulties did the pedagogs face and how were these overcome; the specialists of the Mother See and National Institute for Education, as well as parents and students tell about all these issues.

Deacon Artillerist


In the times of Artsakh heroic war, many of Armenian priests were fighting shoulder to shoulder with soldiers in the battlefield, and ofter with a weapon in hand. Deacon RafayelKhachatryan was one of them. Dropping his studies in Gevorgian Theological Seminary halfway, he returned his native land -- Martakert and positioned on the border. According to one of the commanders, Rafik was one of those distinguished mortar gunners whose shoot was the most exact and his gaze -- the sharpest.
Deacon RafayelKhachatryan was killed in one of the defence fights for the village Tsamtsor.
Recalled by his friends in arms, relatives and spiritual brethren.

Descendants of Fr. Ghevonds


Father Koryun Karapetyan is the chaplain of the Armed Forces. He is a priest that took part in the Artsakh war. He's been next to the Armenian soldier -- in the Armenian Army, throughout most of the critical days for our nation up to day. His fellow-soldiers and spiritual friends - Rev. Fr.Mkrtich Tovmasian, Hovhannes Hovhannisyan, lieutenant colonel of military unit, Gagik Gevorgyan, soldier, and his son, Azat Karapetyan, tell about him.

Power and Honor


It's been over 15 years since we have spiritual servants serving in all military units of Armenia, in compliance with the Agreement signed between the Government of Armenia and Mother See of Holy Etchmiadzin. It is a common knowledge that often inter-personal relationships get tense in the Armed Forces and the soldiers have difficulties in adapting to new environment. The priests serving in the Army help them overcome the hardships of army life. They teach History of Armenian Church and organize pilgrimages. The number of soldiers baptized in the Army is big, where they were introduced to and participated in the Feasts of Armenian Church.

Painter Vazgen Bazhbeuk Melikyan is the son of is Alexander Bazhbeuk Melikyan, a classic of Armenian painting, not a bit less talented than his father and painter sisters, although less popular and covered.
