The territory of the Mother See got larger three times over the last years and makes nearly 40 ha. Exactly half of it is a green area.  How are the trees and bushes over one thousand being taken care of, what tree species grow there and what is that attracts thousands of visitors, pilgrims and locals?

 

On March 25, the 4th exhibition of “Creating Hands” project was opened in Gevorkian Theological Seminary of the Mother See of Holy Etchmiadzin. The compositions were presented by young artists Alisa Gevorgyan, Vahe Baghumyan, Grigor Darbinyan and Arsen Grigoryan.

 

The series of exhibitions called “Creating Hands” still is on in the Mother See. The opening of the 5th exhibition of the initiative was dedicated to the Feast of Annunciation.  Numerous visitors congregated in the foyer of Gevorkian Theological Seminary to familiarize with the compositions of young sculptor Armen Arakelyan and painter Hripsime Arakelyan.  

The first performance of the State Symphonic Orchestra of Armenia was held on March 28, in Germany - in the hall of Elbphilharmonie. The Orchestra performed the works of the two generations of Armenian composers - Aram Khachaturian and Eduard Hayrapetyan. The orchestra was conducted by Sergey Smbatyan.

An innovation acoustic laboratory was opened in Komitas State Conservatory of Yerevan.  It was established within the scope of Competitive Innovation Fund of higher education of Armenia co-funded by the World Bank.

 

The World Council of Churches Armenia Inter-Church Charitable Round Table Foundation in close collaboration with the State Academy of Crisis Management of the Ministry of Emergency Situations organized training courses in Emergency Preparedness and Rapid Response for Disaster Relief attended by the clergy of all Dioceses of Armenian Church.  

 

Within the framework of International Francophonie Days, on April 5 an exhibition of the graphic works of the painter, sculptor Nina Khemchyan “Seven Fundamental Sins” was opened in Yerevan's Modern Art Museum. 

 

Holy Thursday is one of those days richest with diverse ritual ceremonies. The believers spending the Great Lent with fasting and repenting, go to Church early in the morning - 7:30. As per the Church rituals, Karg Apashkharoghats service is held in the Church following the morning mass. Afterwards, a Divine Liturgy is offered to commemorate the establishment of the Sacrament of Communion. This is one of the seven sacraments of the Christian Church. Jesus established it in Vernatun (upper house) of Jerusalem during the Last Supper. 

On March 26 the believers of the Armenian Church entered the period of Holy Week or Passion. On Holy Monday, at the conclusion of the evening mass, Gevorkian Theological Seminary organized a Meditation service in the Mother See of Holy Etchmiadzin. The believers were accompanied by the students of higher educational institutions of Yerevan, military servants of Etchmiadzin mility unit and Military Institute of Vazgen Sargsyan.

On the International Theatre Day - March 27, “Artavazd” theatre awards ceremony was held.  This year it was dedicated to the memory of the National Artist of Armenia Alexander Grigoryan.
