The day of the Feast of Hovhannes Mkrtich (John the Baptist) is the day of naming all bearing the name Hovhannes.


This year, on January 15 the Armenian Apostolic Church celebrated the birthday of John the Baptist Forerunner. That day is also the day of naming all bearing the name Hovhannes.   The churches bearing the name Hovhannes become especially crowded on this Feast.

Garnahovit St. Gevorg Church was brought the relic of the saint


On September 30, the believers’ community congregated in St. Gevorg Church of the village Garnahovit, Aragatsotn Marz, to celebrate The Feast of St. Gevork the Captain and consecration of baptism pool. The reliquary of the saint was brougt from the Mother See.
 

Lmbat Monastery Pilgrimage Day was Celebrated at Artik Diocese


The first Saturday of October is traditionally the Lmbat Monastery or St. Stephen's Pilgrimage Day. Relic of St. Stephen was brought to Lmbat Monastery from the Mother See of Holy Etchmiadzin, a liturgy was served, and a ceremony of blessing of the four corners of the Earth was held.
 

Pontifical Visit of the Patriarch of All Armenians to Mexico City


On October 30, the Catholicos of All Armenians left for Mexico City for a pontifical visit. His Holiness and his delegation were accompanied by officials, high-ranking clergymen and representatives of the local Armenian community. Catholicos of All Armenians visited the Guadalupe Church, met with the Mayor of Mexico City Miguel Ángel Mancera.

On September 11, Catholicos of All Armenians received the delegation arriving in Armenia from Iraq by the initiative of the Primate of the Armenian Diocese in Iraq Archbishop Avag Asaturian. The delegation is composed of leaders and officials of the Christian churches of Iraq.
