Is it possible to prevent the destruction of the Armenian sanctuaries in Artsakh?


In the 1970s the declassification of the photos taken by the American special services made it possible to reveal the destruction of the Armenian churches in Nakhichevan by Azerbaijan.  International expert Simon Maghakyan conducted an investigation based on declassified materials, which was published by an authoritative international periodical. Maghakyan thinks that today the same fate awaits the Armenian sanctuaries of Artsakh under the control of Azerbaijan. The destruction of shrines can be prevented with the help of religious diplomacy tools. Anna Sargsyan talked to Simon Maghakyan in the "Third Millennium" pavilion.

Mkrtich Kheranyan


The priest's son Mkrtich Kheranyan considered the admission to the Gevorkian Theological Seminary the happiest and fateful moment of his life. He mastered the Armenian language so quickly and perfectly that he became a sought-after and beloved teacher. Kheranyan's books were consumed very quickly, became a film and a play, but the greatest achievement of his creative biography was the world translation of Grigor Narekatsi's poem "Book of Lamentation". The only one of the many translations that the Armenian Apostolic Church considered canonical and authorized the publication.

Blessing of the Grapes- Feast of Assumption


The "Vark Hayots" traditional song and dance group collected fresh grapes from Tavush and celebrated the Feast of the Assumption of the Holy Mother of God with the locals in the village of Achajur. Avetik Isahakyan


Until the end of his life, even during the years of Soviet atheism and violence, Isahakyan did not cut ties with the Mother See of Holy Etchmiadzin.  The Gevorkian Theological Seminary was decisive in the fate of the poet․ He wrote his first poems while studying here. He received the first word of praise and encouragement from the Seminary teacher, poet Hovhannes Hovhannisyan.

Makar Yekmalyan


First, a student of the seminary, then teacher Yekmalyan was the first to note down the Armenian church song, the hymn, the liturgy.  He polyphoned both the Armenian folk songs and the liturgy, which is still performed in the Armenian Apostolic Church.
