7th International Contest-Festival “Renaissance” to be held in Gyumri


This year the Contest-Festival “Renaissance” is titled “Against Genocide, Against Wars” and is dedicated to the centennial of the Armenian Genocide. The official opening of the Festival will be held on April 15, in the State Drama Theatre of Vardan Achemyan, Gyumri.

Joint concert of Philharmonic Orchestra and Marianna Shirinyan before their guest performances


From April 11-14, our compatriot Marianna Shirinyan, a famous piano residing in Denmark, will have concerts in Scandinavian countries to commemorate the centennial of the Armenian Genocide. A passage from the concert program was presented to Yerevan audience in the National Academic Theatre of Opera and Ballet of A. Spendiaryan.

Government Decision on Memorial days – topic for discussions


In 2008, the Government of Armenia passed a Decision on considering all Memorial days following major holidays of the Armenian Apostolic Church to be non-working days.  It was replaced by the next Saturday. However, during the last seating of the Government, the PM Hovik Abrahamyan  announced, that since from January Armenia is a member of European Economic Union, where Saturday and Sunday are non-working days, the replacement of Monday with Saturday might hinder the operations of certain organizations. This decision had caused wide-scale discussions.

Participants of “Brainiest” TV show blessed in St. Sarkis Cathedral


The selection round of the intellectual TV show “Brainiest” gave an opportunity to 100 children from Yerevan and marzes for participate. Dozens of them today took part in the Divine Liturgy offered in St. Sarkis Cathedral, the blessing of children, followed by the meeting of the Primate of Ararat Patriarchal Diocese Archbishop Navasard Kchoyan.

Gospel of Mark 4. 3-9, 13-20


The parable of the sower is one of those rare parables which Christ first tells and only then interprets it. 
The parable describes that the sower scattered part of the seed along the path, then some - on rocky places, and some seeds in the thorns, while others fell on good soil.

From June 5-8, Armenia will participate in the most renowned and representative Music Festival of Europe MIDEM now with state status. The press conference organized on March 18 in Komitas Museum-Institute made this fact public.

90th anniversary of the National Philharmonic Orchestra of Armenia


On March 20, 1925, first concert of the newly-established symphonic orchestra of Armenia was held. Recently, the concert of the National Philharmonic Orchestra of Armenia held in the National Academic Theatre of Opera and Ballet was dedicated to the 90th anniversary of Symphonic Orchestra.
