Youth Center is 20 years old


Youth Centers functioning under the auspices of Mother See of Holy Etchmiadzin mark 20th anniversary of establishment. On November 20, National Academic Theatre after G. Sundukyan hosted celebratory concert of Youth Center students. In the foyer, the visitors were familiarized with best creations of ceramics, batik, miniature, carpet weaving groups.

New educational Program “Treasures of Nature” in Gafesjian Center for the Arts

Frescoes of Lmbatavank Renovated by Italians


Italian Armenian architect Ara Zaryan and art conservator Kristin Lamoreau, using their own funds, renovate the 7th century frescoes in Lmbatavank, situated 2 km to south-west of Artik.
The specialists are particularly amazed at the frescoes of St. Gevorg and St. Sargis, of which little have been left.

Presentation of books “My Kind Dreams to You, My Dears” and “Ararat”


“Edit Print” Publishing House published the book-album “Ararat” of Shmavon Shmavonyan and the encyclopedia dedicated to Paruyr Sevak.

This colorful literary guidebook-encyclopedia Paruyr Sevak “My Kind Dreams to You, My Dears”, describes the human and creative character, literary experience and the path crossed, thoughts and contemplations of Sevak the poet, and the warm words of his writer colleagues. The encyclopedia containing 360 pages has been collected by Yuri Petrosyan for the duration of two years.

The basis of each work, quatrain in this three-language book album “Ararat” by Shmavon Shmavonyan is Ararat; the authors are famous Armenian and foreign writers. The lines devoted to the Biblical mountain are coupled with the paintings of Shmavon Shmavonyan. For almost ten years, the painter has pictured the heights of Ararat at all seasons and from different locations.

“Mariam and Mirayf” Band in Aram Khachaturian Concert Hall


“Mariam and Mirayf” jazz-funk project is one of the most famous bands in Moscow. It was warmly accepted in the homeland of jazz – United States. American critic Jacob Richardson called their “Intelligent Music” album as “phenomena of modern jazz”. Their vocalist Mariam Merabova is often called “Lady Voice”. As you listen to her, it’s really hard to think that you are in Yeravan and not in New Orleans, the home of jazz. As Mariam says, Yerevan has lost its former audience of jazz.

This year they celebrate their 15th Anniversary and release third album. Part of the songs is authored by the husband of Mariam, Armen Merabov.

Opening of Ruben Sevak Museum in the Mother See


The historical building Ghazarapat which used to serve as the dining hall for the brotherhood, was selected as a Museum for the renowned Armenian writer, poet Ruben Sevak. The official opening ceremony of the Museum was attended by Karekin II, the Catholicos of All Armenians, Ministers of Culture and Diaspora, member of the Mother See brotherhood, education and cultural workers.
“Today we come to answer the crime by eternalizing the memory of the noble son of our nation; wge respond to the destruction with construction, to devastation – with restoration, to the death – with life. The Christian spirit of answering the evil with the good has become the characteristics and essence of our nation which will ever invigorate us” – stated the Supreme Patriarch in His speech.
The idea of opening the Museum was Hovhannes Chilingarian's, the nephew of Ruben Sevak. On the opening day of the Museum, the benefactor was granted the honorable award of the Armenian Church - "St. Gregory the Illuminator" Medal.

24 pages for 24 hours


For some, comics is the best way to reproduce a story, for others it is purely a philosophy. Many are convinced that comics is a simplified literature, combination of speech and picture. Recently, the member of the Armenian “Group of Angouleme” non formal comics movement left for France to participate in the largest festival of comics - Angouleme Comics Festival. Inspired by Angouleme, they organized the very first regional 24-hour comics contest-festival in Armenia.
