Armenian priests serving in IraqArmenian Diocese of Iraq was established in 1944. Up till now, no priest from the Mother See of Holy Etchmiadzin had ever been appointed to Iraq. Fr. Petros Azaryan and Fr. Narek Avagyan serve in Iraq with the blessing of the Patriarch Karekin II.

Two-day Inter-Church Consultations at the Mother SeeThe delegates of the Inter-Church meeting “Crisis in Syria: challenges for communities” convened at the Mother See participated in the ecumenical prayer, visited Tsitsernakaberd Memorial, published the protocol of the meeting during the press conference and watched the concert of the Armenian Church Youth Center students. The same day, the Catholicos of All Armenians Karekin II had private conversations with the delegates of World Council of Churches and Rev. Dr. Olav Fykse Tveit, General Secretary of the WCC.

The participants of the International Consultation arrive in the Mother SeeSince November2013, the Catholicos of All Armenians Karekin II is one of the selected Presidents of the Central Committee of the World Council of Churches for the coming eight years. From June 11-12, under the presidency of the Supreme Patriarch, an international consultation called “Crisis in Syria: Challenges for Faith Communities” will be held at the Mother See of Holy Etchmiadzin. Other representatives from the Near East, Syria, Russia, European countries and from Christian denominations of the USA also arrived in the Mother See of Holy Etchmiadzin.

Verdi’s Troubadour staged in the Opera Theatre of A. Spendiaryan7 of the 28 operas by Giuseppe Verdi have been staged in the National Academic Theatre of Opera and Theatre. After nearly twenty-six years’ interval, the opera “Troubadour” was restaged again in the Opera Theatre. The director of the performance is Marina Sargsyan.
