Armenian participants of 15th Nutcracker (Shelkunchik) International Television Contest


From December 2-9, 15th Nutcracker (Shelkunchik) International Television Contest for Young Musicians was held in Moscow. With the support of the Ministry of Culture, Armenia, Polina Sharafyan,
Tchaikovsky special music school in Yerevan, teacher professor Alexander Kosemyan, Daniel Melkonyan, trumpet (teacher professor G. Sargsyan) attended the contest representing Armenia. 14 years old Daniel won Bronze Nutcracker, and 12 year old PolinaSharafyan - a diploma.

Concert of Leszek Mozdzer in Yerevan


On December 15, Yerevan hosted famous Polish piano Leszek Mozdzer. He is deemed to be the biggest revelation of Polish jazz music for the last decade. Leszek Mozdzer composes a unique music, records albums and tour around the world with concerts, namely in Europe, South America etc.

In early 1920-ies, in Bolshevik Petersburg, at the specialist of Egypt, Natalya Flittner, a group of young men were admiringly discussing the most recent sensational discoveries in archaeology. The nearly untouched tumb of Tutankhamun was found in the Valley of the Kings in Egypt. None of the young men could ever think that in about two decades it would be them to clean the dust off the history to bring the world to the knowledge of yet another culture, no less old than that of the Egyptian – the culture of Urartu. That young man was Boris Pietrovsky, twelveth director of Hermitage.

Ernest Hoetzland Vladimir Ovchinnikov in Yerevan


Philharmonic Orchestra of Armenia hosted Austrian conductor Ernest Hoetzl and Russian pianist Vladimir Ovchinnikov. First part of the concert featured Symphony N4 of Schumann. Joint performance of Vladimir Ovchinnikovin the second part of the concert was followed by the performance of soundtracks from films. The conductor Ernest Hoetzl had chosen exclusive program in terms of the genres.

George Pehlivanian with the Opera Orchestra


On November 29, France based conductor George Pehlivanian was again hosted in Armenia. This time he was in charge of the Orchestra of Opera Theatre. This is the first concert of the symphonic concert series planned by the Maestro in 2015.

New books 01.12.2014


As a result of the cooperation between Antares Publishing House and translator Ruzan Mirzoyan, Marc Levy’s novel “The Strange Journey of Mr Daldry” was translated into Armenian.
The new book published by the Publishing House of the Mother See was developed by the specialists of the Christian Education Center within the scope of the competition-project “Teaching Parables at Public Schools”.

Armenian premieres: Arvo Pyart, Benjamin Britten


On November 27, for the first time ever, the works of the most famous composers were played in Armenia, namely one of the works of Arvo Pyart and the Symphony of Benjamin Britten for cello and orchestra. The stage was used by the State Youth Orchestra of Armenia.
