The First Epistle to the Thessalonians (2:10-20)

Feast of Exaltation of the Holy Cross is the blessing day of Vanadzor city, and the Holy Cross - the guardian sign.


Three years ago, by the blessing of Primate of Gugark Diocese Archbishop Sebou Chouldjian, the Feast of Exaltation was announced the blessing day of Vanadzor city, and the Holy Cross - the guardian sign of the city. In the Armenian reality cities do not have any special blessing day and Vanadzor is unique.  
 

 

Today is the Day of Remembrance of the Dead


On September 17 the Armenian Church celebrated the last of the five major feasts - Feast of Exaltation of the Holy Cross. Like any other day of major feast, the Feast of Exaltation was followed by the Day of Remembrance of the Dead. On September 18, a Divine Liturgy was served on all Armenian Churches after which people visited the gravesides of their dear ones. The celebrant in the Mother See was Rev. Father Kyuregh  Davtyan.

Gluttony

Apostle James and his brother John were the sons of Zebedee. In the bibliography, Apostle James was also called James the Elder or Elder Apostle to differ from James, the son of Alpheus and the brother of Jesus – James. He was mainly preaching in Rome, Spain and Jerusalem.

13th International Aram Khachaturian Contest kicked offin Opera and Ballet Theatre. This year the contest is held for vocal profession. The opening concert was attended by the State Youth Orchestra, special guest Youth Orchestra of CIS countries, the choir of Opera Theatre, soloists of Bolshoi Theatre of Russia and other honorary guests.

Screening of documentary “Lest They Parish” in Naregatsi Art Institute


Naregatsi Art Institute presented its documentary “Lest They Parish… Story of American Committee for Relief in the Near East” containing cadres never seen before and the collection of photographs provided by Rockefeller Archive Center taken by the Near East Relief in the period of 1915- 1929. The event was attended by the Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Near East Foundation, producer of the film Shant Mardirossyan.
 

Golden Apricot Film Festival to be held from July 9-16


This year, the International Film Festival Golden Apricot will be held from July 9-16.  Who will be presented as the jury, what movies will open and close the festival? These questions were answered by the organizers during the first press conference.
