Screening of documentary “Lest They Parish” in Naregatsi Art Institute


Naregatsi Art Institute presented its documentary “Lest They Parish… Story of American Committee for Relief in the Near East” containing cadres never seen before and the collection of photographs provided by Rockefeller Archive Center taken by the Near East Relief in the period of 1915- 1929. The event was attended by the Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Near East Foundation, producer of the film Shant Mardirossyan.

This year, the International Film Festival Golden Apricot will be held from July 9-16.  Who will be presented as the jury, what movies will open and close the festival? These questions were answered by the organizers during the first press conference. 

 

Light-diode translation board was launched in Opera Theatre


A light-diode translation board was launched in the National Academic Theatre of Opera and Ballet, which will feature the libretto of the given composition in Armenian and some foreign language. This technical equipment unprecedented for cultural institutions in Armenia came into life by the initiative of the Ministry of Culture and ArmSwissBank. 
 

“Masunk” Ensemble resurrects a number of folk dance songs


This week Masunk Ensemble had a festive concert. The Ensemble has enlivened the dance songs collected by the founder of the group RudikHaroyan, some of them performed for the first time ever. 
 

“Art Armenia” Foundation to provide grants to artists


The newly-established Foundation “Art Armenia” will from now on provide grants to artists to bring those projects into life, which are vital yet can’t be implemented because of scarce financial resources.
 

Launching Arm Culture application ofthe company ARLOOPA


Due to the application Arm Culture, now the 3D animation image of statue can be viewed, even take a picture with it and listen to accompanying voice message. First time testing was done with the Minister of Culture Armen Amiryan and the journalists. 
 

Concert dedicated to the 95th anniversary of Arno Babajanyan


This year marks the 95th anniversary of Arno Babajanyan. Various events are organized to celebrate the anniversary. The stage of Opera Theatre featured National Philharmonic Orchestra of Armenia conducted by Eduard Topchyan  and also Armenian, Russian and European singers all united by the music of Babajanyan. 
 

Concert performance of Verdi’s “Rigoletto” by the National Philharmonic Orchestra


10th International Music Festival of Yerevan was finalized with theatrical concert performance of Giuseppe Verdi’s Rigoletto. The stage was owned by the National Academic Choir presenting male singers, National Philharmonic Orchestra of Armenia and singer-soloists. The role of Rigoletto was performed by Gianpiero Ruggeri – a baritone from Italy, the Duke – Liparit Avetisyan, and Gilda – soprano Hasmik Torosyan. 

Armenians in jazz: concert in Aram Khachaturian Concert Hall


A Jazz night had been organized in Aram Khachaturian Concert Hall. Levon Malkhasyan handed jazz club association membership certificates to Armenian jazz musicians, including Alina Yengibaryan and Stepan Kojoyan - the director of the three largest jazz festivals of the Europe. 

Concert of Chamber Choir of Komitas State Conservatory


Chamber Music House of Komitas hosted chorus arrangements of contemporary Armenian composers. The compositions of Davit Halajyan, Vard Manukyan, Khachatur Martirosyan, Jeni Asatryan and others were performed by the Chamber Choir of Conservatory. 

Concert of Dresden Symphonic Orchestra in Yerevan


Concert series of Dresden Symphonic Orchestra “Aghet (Disaster)” was launched in 2015 in Berlin. Afterwards they toured to Dresden, Brandenburg and got Yerevan this week. It’s a common format for the orchestra to address political issues; this time they focused in Armenia, Armenian Genocide.
