The passing year was wrapped up with festive concert in Arabkir Armenian Youth Center. 

 

A khachkar was erected in the village of Diliska in Akhalkalak for commemoration of the Armenian Genocide victims. On December 9, on the day the United Nations passed the Convention on the Prevention and Punishment of the Crime of Genocide, the Primate of the Diocese of the Armenian Apostolic Church in Georgia performed blessing ceremony to commemorate the Unknown Soldier and the two cross-stones dedicated to the memory of Holy Martyrs. 

On January 5, in the morning Catholicos of All Armenians visited Yolyan Hematology Center. The Armenian Patriarch came to congratulate and distribute gifts to those children who were at the medical institution over these days.  

 

This year marks the 150th anniversary of birthday and 65th anniversary of the death of famous expert in Armenian studies, archaeologist, doctor of philosophy Karekin I Hovsepyan. Mother See of Holy Etchmiadzin and the Armenian Catholicosate of the Great House of Cilicia published two large volumes jointly with the National Archive of Armenia covering thousand archive documentaries on Catholicos Karekin Hovsepyan. The presentation of the volumes was held on September 20 in Vatche and Tamar Manoukian Library. Present were Catholicos of All Armenians Karekin II, Catholicos of the Great House of Cilicia Aram I, the Minister of Education and Science, scientists, priests of the Mother See and the Great House of Cilicia.  The publications were prepared by the staff member of the National Archive of Armenia, Candidate of Historical Sciences Gohar Avagyan.

Catholicos of All Armenians received senior members of Knights of Vartan organization, which is functioning in the US, headed by senior Sparapet of the organization Gary Zamanigian, at the Mother See of Holy Etchmiadzin. The guests were accompanied by the clergy of the Mother See Archbishop Paren Avetikyan, who, among other high ranking clergymen, used to be a member of the organization. 

 

On September 17, a festive Divine Liturgy was offered in all Armenian Apostolic Churches to mark Khachverats. The celebrant in the Mother Cathedral was Primate of the Armenian Diocese of Romania Bishop Tatev Hakobyan.  Armenian Church calendar contains 4 feasts dedicated to Cross.  Khachverats in one of the major church holidays of our Church and is celebrated on the Sunday between the week of September 11-17.  

 

Russian dance teacher Alyona Zikova refutes the widespread opinion that Armenian folk song and dance are not available for foreigners. 

 

On May 24 the photograph exhibition titled “Royal Gleam” was opened in the National Gallery. 

Exhibition of new collection “From King to King” of Teryan Cultural Center was presented in Megerian Carpets.The author is painter-designer Lilit Melikyan. The collection encompasses samples of vestments of 11 key Armenian kings and queens, as well as those of gods of the Armenian mythology.

 

The Museum of Literature and Art hosted a conference and an exhibition dedicated to the 140thaaniversary of Derenik Demirchyan.
