Makar I Catholicos of Teghut neither studied nor taught at the Gevorgyan Theological Seminary, but the seminary reached its most flourishing period during his reign. Students will examine the crime of genocide in the format of an international court


The Armenian Genocide Museum-Institute and the International Law Society of Armenia have organized a moot court competition on the crime of genocide. The goal is to raise legal awareness of the crime of genocide among students, develop research skills, and promote professional interest in the Armenian Genocide. The competition will be organized in the format of the International Court of Justice model. The names and countries in the case will be fictitious, but historical facts will be examined as the basis for the cases.

Genocide survivor's daughter has big reservations about contacts with Turks


Ashot Ohanyan and his family were deported from Bursa in 1914. On the way to the deportation, his mother and younger sister were killed, then he escaped and ended up in an orphanage. An American inspector kidnapped him on a coal ship to Greece. From there, a few years later, they were transferred to Egypt to learn a trade, where he was forcibly conscripted into the British army. He was seriously injured, losing an arm and an eye. In 1947, he returned to Soviet Armenia with his family, where in 1949 he was sentenced to exile on absurd charges, leaving his wife and young children alone.

The Feast of the Resurrection was celebrated in the Mother Cathedral for the first time after the reconsecration


The liturgy was presided over by His Holiness Karekin II, Catholicos of All Armenians. The candlelight service in the Mother Cathedral was performed by Archbishop Arshak Khachatryan, the Chancellor of the Mother See. The feast of the Holy Resurrection began with the candlelight service. With the blessings of the Catholicos of All Armenians, light was distributed to those present from a candle burning in the sanctuary in the Mother Cathedral.

A Washing of the Feet service was performed in all Armenian Apostolic churches


On Holy Thursday, a Washing of the Feet service is performed in all Armenian Apostolic churches, and in the Mother See of Holy Etchmiadzin, it is performed by the Patriarch of All Armenians. His Holiness first blesses the water and oil placed on the altar, then kneels and begins to wash the feet of the 12 people symbolizing Christ's disciples.

 

Catholicos of All Armenians blessed the children gathered at the Mother See on the occasion of Palm Sunday


The Feast of Palm Sunday began in the Mother See with the Andastan ceremony. The Catholicos of All Armenians, together with the clergy, prayed and blessed the four corners of the world, asking for peace and fertility. On the Feast of Palm Sunday, the curtain of the church altar was opened and Holy Communion was given. On Palm Sunday, the Blessing of Children was performed in all churches. In the Mother See, His Holiness the Patriarch blesses the gathered kids.
