“Mariam and Mirayf” Band in Aram Khachaturian Concert Hall


“Mariam and Mirayf” jazz-funk project is one of the most famous bands in Moscow. It was warmly accepted in the homeland of jazz – United States. American critic Jacob Richardson called their “Intelligent Music” album as “phenomena of modern jazz”. Their vocalist Mariam Merabova is often called “Lady Voice”. As you listen to her, it’s really hard to think that you are in Yeravan and not in New Orleans, the home of jazz. As Mariam says, Yerevan has lost its former audience of jazz.

This year they celebrate their 15th Anniversary and release third album. Part of the songs is authored by the husband of Mariam, Armen Merabov.

Anniversary Exhibition of Khachik Harutyunyan


On September 25, the anniversary exhibition of Khachik Harutyunyan’s creations took place. The painter is famous for his abstract works. Many of his paintings are exhibited in museums and personal collections.

Italian Specialist in Armenia


From September 2-21, Italian restorer Lucia Miazzo conducted theoretical training courses. The Project on restoration of metal artifacts, archeological finds and earthen was a three-month event implemented on the basis of an agreement (“Assistance to local institutions in the protection and restoration of cultural heritage”) signed in 2011 between the Foreign Affairs Ministries of Armenia and Italy.

Man of God


The parish of Aparan city is one of the oldest and most powerful spiritual communities of the independent Armenia. It was founded in 1990-ies, by Deacon Edward Frangulyan. He is an architect by profession, and leaving his wife and children in Yerevan, he moved to his native land – Aparan to dedicate almost ten years of his life to the establishment of the local Church. Due to his efforts, the Church Surb Khach (Holy Cross) of Aparan, dated IV century, was renovated. During the TV program, his students, present Pastor of Aparan and his widow share their recollections about Deacon Edward.

24 pages for 24 hours


For some, comics is the best way to reproduce a story, for others it is purely a philosophy. Many are convinced that comics is a simplified literature, combination of speech and picture. Recently, the member of the Armenian “Group of Angouleme” non formal comics movement left for France to participate in the largest festival of comics - Angouleme Comics Festival. Inspired by Angouleme, they organized the very first regional 24-hour comics contest-festival in Armenia.

Artak Gulian


Armenian Monastery complex of Moscow is a weighty architectural and cultural presence in the Armenian Diaspora. The complex includes big and small churches, the building of Armenian Prelacy in Russia, cultural, educational institutions, and also reception facilities. This construction fully adheres to the national architectural principles and represents one of the works of architect Artak Gulian.
The famous architect of nowadays has his own viewpoint on the current church construction. It's worthwhile knowing his own interpretation of the history of Armenian Church construction.

The Parable of Stewards


Ara, Manvel and Narek are classmates. Manvel and Narek are fond of the same girl and there is a silent competition between them. Prayer in the Painting


Rev. Fr. Nerseh Khalatian can no longer think his life without painting. “Painting is something like a prayer to me, - says the Father, - a kind of a unique way of self-concentration and connecting to the Exalted, which makes you to contemplate and create”. Father Nerseh was born in Tiflis. After the graduation of Gevorgian Theological Seminary, he was appointed as the Director of the Museums of Mother See, later – as the Patriarchal Primate of Central and Northern Europe. However, his most crucial experience was his service in an ancient Monastery of Haghartsin following that of in the Europe. It was here that his very first prayer was born in a painting.
