The Tale of “Arevner” still goes on

In 1980-ies, every evening the melody of “The Tale is Calling Us” called all the children around the TV screens. The author of the music was composer, conductor Armen Divanyan.
On December 3, a memory evening was organized in Sundukyan National Academic Theatre. The stage hosted the ensemble “Arevner (Suns)” he himself founded.

Retrospective exhibition of graphic works of Suren Safaryan

Exhibition of graphic works of Suren Safaryan has opened in the National Gallery. The works include travelling schizzos and sketches, urban scenes of Budapest, Nagymaros and Bologna, sketches of buildings, monuments and bridges. The exhibition is open till December 13.

Lecture of Bishop Bagrat Galstanyan on the issue of sex selective abortions

Within the scope of the program “I Want to Live”, Bishop Bagrat Galstanyan, the Director of the Office on Ecclesiastical Liturgical Issues in the Mother See of Holy Etchmiadzin, explained the issue of sex selective abortions from the perspective of Christian morals.
170 students from state and private higher educational institutions took part in the program.

Gender Equality: Disguised Threats

On May 30, 2013, National Assembly of the Republic of Armenia adopted the Law N 57 “On Provision of Equal Rights and Opportunities for Women and Man”. No public discussions were held during the process of adopting the Law. The clergy and a number of cultural and public figures claim that the title of the Law has in fact nothing to do with its content which refers to gender (obtained sexual behavior) and gender equality. There are some who go as far as to claim that this is an attempt to shake the roots of traditional Christian family by legitimizing perversion.

The program Gyumri as Cultural Capital of CIS was finalized. Vladimir Spivakov and National Philharmonic Orchestra of Russia were in the second city of Armenia on that occasion.

International Conference “Armenian-Romanian Cultural Heritage” in Bucharest

A five-day international conference on Romanian-Armenian cultural heritage was held in Bucharest hosting scholars from Armenia, France, Hungary, Moldova and Ukraine. The conference was organized by the Ministries of Culture of Armenia and Romania, Armenian Embassy in Romania and Romanian Academy with the support of Armenian Diocese in Romania and Armenian Union.
