Power and Honor


It's been over 15 years since we have spiritual servants serving in all military units of Armenia, in compliance with the Agreement signed between the Government of Armenia and Mother See of Holy Etchmiadzin. It is a common knowledge that often inter-personal relationships get tense in the Armed Forces and the soldiers have difficulties in adapting to new environment. The priests serving in the Army help them overcome the hardships of army life. They teach History of Armenian Church and organize pilgrimages. The number of soldiers baptized in the Army is big, where they were introduced to and participated in the Feasts of Armenian Church.

Acolytes of Syunik


Tatev Monastery is the spiritual center of Syunik Diocese. The famous Syunik Seminary was established here, in 14th century. The Seminary is destroyed at present, however, little acolytes are being ordained and serving in the Church. Most of them are the descendents of the one-time Syunik Seminary students and they preserve the traditions transferred by their ancestors. The priest of Tatev Monastery, Father Michael Gevorgyan, tells about the characters of the little servants of the Church and their daily routine.

The Christmas of Cheknagh


Christmas has a special sacrament for the little acolytes of the village Cheknagh (means ''beauteous''). Here the acolytes are ՛՛mobile՛՛. During the blessing of Water, the blessed water is transported by children from village to village in a special solemnity and the lithurgy is served there.
The baptism of the children in villages also takes place on the day of Christmas. The feast of Theophany or Revelation is the most expected one in their Church Calendar.

Penitence, part 2


There are two types of confession distinguished in the Armenian Church -- individual and collective. Every believer has the freedom to choose his/her priest to confess to. According to the canon of the Armenian Church, the priest who makes the secret communicated by the confessor public, shall be liable to a most strict punishment.
