Vilen Martikyan


In 19 he was the secretary of Art and Literature Section of one of the most notorious newspapers of the Soviet Armenia, the Avantgarde. In 25, he was the founder of The Sportsman of Armenia (Hayastani Fizkulturnik). Presently, he is the advisor to the Executive Director of Public Radio.

Japanese Bushido in Armenian


The code of conduct of the Samurai, the Japanese Bushido has been translated into almost every language of the world and now – into Armenian. The presentation of the book took place on May 24, at Bureaucrat book-store. The translator of the book, Artashes Ter-Hovhannisyan dedicated the publication to the hero of Artsakh war, General-Mayor Arkadi Ter-Tadevosyan.

Verdi’s Troubadour staged in the Opera Theatre of A. Spendiaryan


7 of the 28 operas by Giuseppe Verdi have been staged in the National Academic Theatre of Opera and Theatre. After nearly twenty-six years’ interval, the opera “Troubadour” was restaged again in the Opera Theatre. The director of the performance is Marina Sargsyan.

Concert of Gevorkian Theological Seminary at the House of Chamber Music


On May 21, on the initiative of Spiritual Music center, the concert of four-part choir of Gevorkian Theological Seminary was held in the House of Chamber Music after Komitas. Armenian spiritual music was coupled by pieces from Bach, Vivaldi, Pyotr Yanchak.

Opening of 10th international music festival “National Gallery”


On May 7, the jubilee concert season of the festival was launched at the Fresco Hall of the National Gallery. The opening concert was featured by the State Chamber Orchestra of Armenia headed by conductor Harutyun Arzumanyan. The guest of the evening was Switzerland-based opera singer Varduhi Khachatryan.

Commemoration ceremonies devoted to the memory of Genocide victims at the Mother See of Holy Etchmia


The Supreme Patriarch of Armenians offered a Repose of Souls service at the Mother See of Holy Etchmiadzin after paying tribute to the memory of the victims of the Armenian Genocide at Tsitsernakaberd Memorial. Special eventsto the memory of the victims of the Armenian Genocide continued in the Ruben Sevak Museum. Later, the Catholicos Karekin II received U.S. Congressional delegation headed by the Congressman Ed Royce, the Chairman of the United States House Committee on Foreign Affairs.
