He arrived in Armenia to participate in the international conference entitled “Genocide: Memory, Recognition, Prevention.” The German historian published the work “The Armenian Genocide” in 2015, in which he presented numerous never-before-published documents from the previously closed archives of the Vatican relating to 1915-1916. His Holiness invited the historian to give lectures to the congregation of the Mother See and students of the spiritual and educational institutions.
