Attack on religious community: Statement by the World Council of Churches in Austria

The World Council of Churches in Austria considers the arrests, detentions and convictions of senior clergy of the Armenian Apostolic Church to be a challenge to religious freedom. The Council is concerned that this approach is incompatible with the principles of the rule of law and human rights. According to the Council, the measures are an arbitrary and unjustified interference with the freedom of the Church and can be assessed as an attack on the religious community.
