Legal Experts Condemn the Establishment of a National Assembly Investigative Commission Regarding the Armenian Church

On October 6, Karekin II, Catholicos of All Armenians, met with a group of prominent legal experts, human rights defenders, and constitutional law specialists at the Mother See of Holy Etchmiadzin. The participants in the discussion condemned the establishment of a National Assembly investigative commission concerning the Armenian Church, characterizing it as blatantly unconstitutional and an attempt to interfere in the Church’s internal life and self-governance. Proposals were presented regarding the utilization of domestic and international legal mechanisms to protect the rights of the Armenian Church and the clergy.
