The 80 year old leader died of stroke. He was originally from Mosul, a city in the north of Iraq and served as the Patriarch of Antioch and All the East since 1980.
The Patriarch of All Armenians extended consolation to the clergy and to all Syrian Orthodox Christians, along with his prayers to God for the late Patriarch.
