Light and Shadow of the history of Soviet Armenia

Soviet era of Armenian history was one of economic and cultural upsurge, industrial achievements, while on the other hand, it is undeniable that it was all accompanied with the most brutal oppressions, exile and extinction of the intellectuals and abuse of national values. The grounds for the first and second above-mentioned claims served history text-books, scientific researches. How has it been studied so far, and what principles should be applied to study and present the history of second republic of Armenia, how should the 70-year old period of the Armenian history be valued? Hayk Hambardzumyan spoke about these topics with Ara Sanjian, Director of the Armenian Research Center of the University of Michigan-Dearborn.
