The famous icon of Our Lady dating back to XVII century, has been taken out of St. Arakelots Monastery in Sevan back in Soviet times. It is now installed in the National Gallery. The icon is well-known for its healing and recovery powers. As the gallery staff member states, many believers and priests come to the Gallery, kneel and pray to the icon often. Several attempts to return the icon to the church were made, number of letters were delivered to different Prime Ministers of Armenia. So far they go unanswered.
